Abstract
This study investigated the relationships between developmental levels, self-esteem and countertransference management abilities of play therapists. The aim of this study is to examine the mediating effects of self-esteem on the relationship between developmental levels and countertransference management abilities. The subjects of this research exercise were 125 play therapists. Data were analyzed by means of Pearson's correlation and the Baron and Kenny(1986) mediating effect analysis. The results were as follows. First, developmental level was positively associated with self-esteem and the countertransference management abilities of play therapists. Second, self-esteem had a partially mediating effect on the relationship between developmental levels and countertransference management abilities of play therapists. In conclusion, play therapist's higher developmental levels and self-esteem should be developed to improve their countertransference management abilities. In addition, training programs for play therapists were suggested and recommendations for future research exercises were discussed
